The House was established in Reims in 1843, by Joseph Krug, a visionary non-conformist with an uncompromising philosophy. Having understood that the true essence of Champagne is pleasure itself, his dream was to craft the very best Champagne he could offer.
The House of Krug’s unique craftsmanship has revealed a rare Champagne from an exceptional terroir, the Clos du Mesnil. Located in the heart of the village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most iconic villages for Chardonnay in the Champagne region, this vineyard of 1.84 hectares has been protected by walls since 1698.
Krug Clos du Mesnil exalts the crisp purity of one of the finest terroirs in the region – a single walled plot of vines, Clos du Mesnil – and of a single grape variety, Chardonnay – from a single year. This Champagne is a tribute to the House of Krug’s unique savoir faire, with respect for the individuality of each plot and the character of its wine at its very heart.
