It is the season to be jolly, and nothing gets you in the Christmas mood like some festive cocktails. Here are some scrumptious cocktails to try this season.
Classic Mulled Wine
Let’s cozy up with some mulled wine. Turn on some music, build a fire or light some candles, throw some spices and wine in a pot, and embrace the holiday season. It’s really that simple.
1 orange, sliced into rounds, plus more for garnish
6 whole cloves
3 cinnamon sticks, plus more for garnish
3 star anise
1/4 c. honey
A fun nutty cocktail, Its sweetness and subtle nuttiness is the perfect partner to rich Irish cream.
FOR THE IRISH WHIPPED CREAM:
1 c. whipped cream
1 tbsp. powdered sugar
FOR THE COCKTAIL:
1 1/2 oz. hazelnut syrup
crushed hazelnuts or graham crackers
FOR IRISH WHIPPED CREAM:
In the bowl of a stand mixer or a medium bowl with a hand mixer, whisk together cream and powdered sugar. Whip on high until stiff peaks form, then slowly add the Bailey's Irish cream. Transfer cream into a piping bag or plastic bag with a corner snipped off and chill.
In a shaker, add Bailey's Irish cream and hazelnut syrup then fill with ice. Shake until the shaker is frosty, then strain the drink into a coup. Pipe over Irish whipped cream and garnish with hazelnuts.
Mistletoe Jell-O Shots make the magic happen. They're surprisingly zesty, nice and sweet, and a little spicy.
2 (3-oz.) packets lime Jell-O
Lime wedge, for rimming glasses
Red sanding sugar, for rimming glasses
Whipped cream and Mint leaves , for garnish
Run a lime wedge around the rim of each shot glass then dip each shot glass into red sanding sugar.
Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Once bubbling, stir in lime Jell-O, stirring until completely dissolved. Turn off heat. Pour in vodka, mixing until thoroughly combined.
Pour into a large measuring cup, small pitcher or another glass so it's easier to pour into shot glasses. Pour Jell-O mixture into each shot glass. Place shot glasses into refrigerator until Jell-O sets, about 2 hours.
Garnish with whipped cream, mint leaves, and Red Hot candies before serving.
