History shows that Thomas Hardy first blended grapes from multiple regions in 1865. Thomas believed that blending grapes with different characteristics would compliment and enhance the qualities of each in the final wine.
Heritage Reserve Bin wines push the boundaries of winemaking through the cross-regional blending of hand-selected grapes. The distinct characteristics of the grapes from each region are considered and selected to complement and enhance each other. Only the premier Australian regions for each varietal are considered for inclusion in each vintage. The result is a complex, unique expression of the varietal, that retains the finest character of each terroir.
Very deep, almost opaque black crimson colour with crimson mauve hue. Perfumed nose of violets followed by spice, and liquorice of all sorts and a hint of cedar. The palate flavour profile is restrained, typical of cool climate Shiraz and its influence can be attributed to the Adelaide Hills component. Flavours of liquorice and confectionary are layered with stewed fruit and cedar. Fine grained tannins. Aftertaste of stewed fruit, cedar, spice and confectionary. An impressive refined style.
