Established in 1823 by James Findlater in the wake of the Excise act on the site of an older illicit distillery, Mortlach was the first legal distillery in Dufftown. A classic Island dram from the Isle of Skye. Aged for a minimum of 10 years in American oak casks, this welcome member of Diageo's Classic Malts series has been recognized numerous times for its excellence. Immensely satisfying stuff, with whiffs of warm peat blending with coastal air, balanced by orchard fruit and juicy barley. A spectacular after-dinner dram.
This 20-year-old Mortlach single malt is matured for 20 years exclusively in sherry casks. Intensely flavorsome stuff.
Expect notes of roast chestnuts and tobacco, swiftly joined by dense chocolate and red berry richness. Just a whisper of meaty malt underneath.
