Altos Las Hormigas is known as a Malbec specialist with a reputation as one of the country‘s top five producers of this variety. Altos Las Hormigas spearheaded the revival of Malbec in Argentina in the 1990s, while many others were insistent on planting and vinifying Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Fresh red fruit notes, cranberries and wild strawberries are followed by layers of spice and herbs. On the palate, fruit is intensely concentrated intensifying through the mid-palate to the finish. The limestone tannins and calcareous soils build a firm but balanced structure in the mouth, with elegant minerality and a long finish.
