Unusually for the Médoc, Château Palmer usually has as much Merlot as Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend (along with a small amount of Petit Verdot), which helps give the wine a fleshy and generous structure. It can be drunk young, but will also reward long cellaring.
Intensely pigmented, medium to deep ruby-red color. The nose is of medium intensity with notes of dairy, coffee-grounds & cedar dominating red-fruit aromas. The palate has an attractive balance between fairly intense, but leafy red-fruit with a fine, but not intrusive structure. Acidity is fresh & alcohol well in balance. The finish has fair length, but is quite lean.
