Known since the 16th century, Crottin de Chavignol has two different stories about its name. The first version is that ‘Crottin’ is derived from the word ‘Crot’ which means ‘hole’ in the Berrichon dialect.
The texture of Crottin de Chavignol is dry, firm, and breakable but surprisingly melting in the mouth. On the palate, herbal, nutty, farmy and goatty aromas define it. Crumble it on the top of a beetroot salad for a perfect lunch break. You can also add a few sundried apricots.
